National Doctors’ Day, celebrated on March 30, honors these healthcare professionals for their work and their dedication to their patients and their communities.

(Why today, by the way? It began in Georgia in 1933 when Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles Almond, was looking for a way to honor physicians. The date was chosen because March 30 was the anniversary of the first use of surgical anesthesia. It’s been a national holiday since 1991, and is now celebrated in many different countries, often on different dates.)
